Holidays in the Parlor

The Parlor is adding a flourish here and there for the holidays.

Rustic Christmas Wreath

  • This Day in Alabama History” is available in the sidebar on the main page. (Some dates are more historic than others; recent dates with entries are listed.) We can thank Walt for that (and I do!).
  • Also, the Top Posts page now has a list of the posts with the most comments from the last 30 days, and a list of posts with the most comments overall.
  • Highly caffeinated politicos from both sides of the aisle are working around the clock on the list of the most politically influential non-elected Alabamians. Provided no knife fights shut down the process, we should present that to you next week.
  • Walt continues to bring highlights from Alabama’s small town newspapers

As always, I want to hear if something is not looking or working right in your browser (or if you think some change to the Parlor lessens rather than improves the site.)

Other fun things are in the hopper too… stay tuned…

While all of my interest in the political world is a hobby [...]

My Time is Up

I write this blog with some mixed emotion. Over the last eight years I have served in the House of Representatives, and this Thursday will most likely be my last day in session as a House member. Of course, my term goes until November, and there could always be a special session at [...]

TRYIN’ TO CATCH UP

I’ve been in Venice on a little vacation and just returned last night.  I’ve been trying to catch up and see that there have been few dramatic events in the last 10 days.  I thought the www.fivethirtyeight.com piece was especially good, though the comments reflected the anti-Alabama knee-jerk reactions of those who live outside the [...]
