It is time to stop this type of fraudulent behavior…Would you want this type person to run your City? And why is Langford just now reporting money he received several years ago? Seems “big money” is behind all this. Want “big money” running Birmingham?
I don’t want big money running Birmingham. I don’t want small minds running Birmingham either.
“Birmingham’s Mayor-Council Act requires that the mayor be a qualified elector of the city and be at least 25 years old. It requires a candidate to sign a sworn statement when qualifying stating that the candidate ‘resides’ in Birmingham.”
Those residency requirements are much different that those for a state senator or representative.
SECTION 47 of the Alabama Constitution says, “Senators shall be at least twenty-five years of age, and representatives twenty-one years of age at the time of their election. They shall have been citizens and residents of this state for three years and residents of their respective counties or districts for one year next before their election, if such county or district shall have been so long established; but if not, then of the county or district from which the same shall have been taken; and they shall reside in their respective counties or districts during their terms of office.”
It continues to baffle me how Senator Wendell Mitchell can reside in a mansion in Montgomery in Senator Larry Dixon’s district and claim a residency in a P.O. box in Luverne, which is in the district he supposedly represents, and get a way with it. It seems that SD25 is represented by two state senators while SD30 has no constitutional senator representing it.
