Milking it for all it’s worth
If listening to four southern Agriculture Commissioners (including our own Ron Sparks) banter about a milking contest is your thing, then today’s your day.
And fwiw, Ron Sparks came in a respectable second in yesterday’s contest behind Tennessee’s Ken Givens who was raised on a dairy farm.
I have heard some take note of Ron Sparks’ southern accent before, but he sounds like a Midwestern news anchor compared to some of these guys.
The occasion was the Sunbelt Agricultural Expo.
Speaking of accents, Steven Colbert had a good one when he was a guest columnist for Maureen Downd
Dowd last Friday, “And Fred Thompson. In my opinion “Law & Order” never sufficiently
explained why the Manhattan D.A. had an accent like an Appalachian catfish wrestler.”

I agree that second place is respectable for Ron Sparks, but it looks like the winner had about 6 times as much as he did. They say Givens grew up on a dairy farm and I guess the art of milking is something you never forget.

Willie, that’s funny.
Mooncat, they were good sports to go along with it and were having fun with it. The article at the last link mentioned that the Georgia commissioner was pouring milk from his bucket into buckets for other commissioners.
