Lucy Baxley “Very Interested” in PSC Presidency
Former Democratic gubernatorial candidate and Lt. Governor Lucy Baxley tells the Political Parlor that she continues to recover from last November’s stroke, and that she is “very interested” in running for the Presidency of the Public Service Commission. She stopped short of committing to a run but said that as long as her health continues to improve she “will take a good long look at it.”
She said that nothing about her status now would prevent her from doing the job, but a campaign would be hard on her.
“Right now, therapy is my job. Five days a week I do this. It has been almost a year [since the stroke]. I am getting better.”
Republican George Wallace, Jr., a former PSC Commissioner, is also reportedly interested in running for the position. Wallace lost to Luther Strange in the GOP primary for Lt. Governor last year.
Democrat Ed Gentle of St. Clair County has also been mentioned for the post.
Republican incumbent Jim Sullivan has served as president of the Public Service Commission since 1983.
And continued best wishes for Baxley’s full recovery.

If history is any teacher, Lucy Baxley does the best at elective offices that only require their holder to smile.

Most states have several office holders whose talent appears to be smiling and waving.

[…] Former Democratic Lt. Governor Lucy Baxley is indicating that she is in. We continue to hear that former PSC Commissioner George Wallace Jr. (R) is looking at a run, though the story is that if Sullivan runs for re-election then Wallace’s participation becomes iffier. […]

She has completed her collage courses and is getting read to take the state boards.
