Some Voter Confusion in Birmingham

Filed under: Local Politics — Danny @ 4:33 pm

The Birmingham News Breaking News site has four stories about voters showing up at the wrong location to vote (here, here, here, and here) including one about a woman who was directed from place to place for over two hours before she cast her vote.

A Cooper campaign worker told me that all of those reports of confusion over the correct polling places were in places considered “Cooper strongholds.”

Does the Cooper campaign expect to at least make a run-off, I asked? “Oh, yes. Definitely.”

  1. Hmm, let’s see - Crestwood, Forest Park, Southside. What do
these areas have in common? Oh yeah - that’s where much of the
white vote in Birmingham resides. Changes in polling places
for people in these areas who reported voting in the same place
for decades? And numerous voters reporting they received NO
notice of the change? And because it’s a city election, the
county registrar isn’t involved, making this issue the
exclusive domain of the Birmingham City Clerk?

    Something’s rotten in Denmark.

  2. Obviously this election has been STOLEN at present. Get ready, Birmingham. You may be looking at Smitherman as your next Mayor who only 3% of you wanted.
