Birmingham Mayoral Candidates on Final Leg

Official Seal of Birmingham, ALFWIW, I am hearing sources close to campaigns say that the Birmingham mayor’s race appears to be tightening between Larry Langford and Patrick Cooper. Even if this is not true (and I believe the sources are good), it is difficult to believe anything but that there will be a run-off between Langford and Cooper.

Larry Langford’s campaign is promoting a big “musical extravaganza” Sunday night at the Alabama Theater to rally the troops.

The election is Tuesday.

Not related to this story, but you really need to check out Time Magazine’s site. Big article on Lanny Young and “Republican Conspiracies.”

I thought Carol Smitherman had a lock on the gay community’s support, isn’t that enough to make a run-off?

  • Keep an eye on the Memphis Mayors race tonight. Mayor Willie Herenton is in deep trouble according to the polls. He’s been in office since 1991 and he’s the citys first black Mayor but crime has gotten out of control over there.
