If you are interested in the potential candidates for the Congressional seat being vacated by Terry Everett next year, note that we have updated the AL-02 Big List with several names in the last 24 hours.
I hope HAS is working hard to make this happen… Mark is a perfect fit for our district, we are rural and mostly small town Alabama… and we have a large farming community. Our people don’t have any need for “extreme” groups like AEA.
Representative Terry Spicer has shown he can provide effective leadership and get results for his House district by working with Republicans and Democrats. Spicer is the “out-of-the-box” candidate that can win for the Democrats…….Bobby Bright simply can’t win.
Bright’s type of public education in Montgomery says all you need to say about this ineffective politician.
“Spicer is the “out-of-the-box” candidate that can win for” Paul Hubbert and Joe Reed! He is one of the most corrupt politicos in Montgomery. He has never worked with Republicans EVER. Go back and read the transcript of his vulgar “speech” at the Aug. 23 Dept of Postsecondary Education meeting during the public comment period. … where he “attacked” our great Governor. He has even filed suit against the taxpayers of Alabama to preserve “double dipping,” for himself and the rest of the “double dipping” AEA buddies.
State Board of Education votes to end employment by legislators; AEA expected to file suit over action today.
Just one of Spicer’s quotes…
“Rep. Terry Spicer, an Elba Democrat who works at Enterprise Ozark Community College, directly criticized Riley for saying earlier this week that none of the legislators who would be affected are really educators. “To be honest with you, I probably have more credentials to be an educator, governor, than you have to be governor,” Spicer told Riley as the crowd hooted and clapped.”
Don’t miss reading about the legislator who is paid $75,000 a year by the community college after she was elected. Another legislator was fired after system officials couldn’t determine what she did for her $50,000-a-year salary
Rep. Terry Spicer, D-Elba, works for Enterprise-Ozark Community College as an “assistant to the president for economic and community development.” Yet another example of a “no work” job. He has no shame.
Terry Spicer criticizing Riley’s support of a ban on legislators being employed by the two-year college system. According to Spicer, D-Elba, Riley’s support of Chancellor Bradley Byrne’s proposed ban was hypocritical. That bill was never passed thanks to the efforts of Spicer and the Democratically-controlled Legislature, according to Emerson. “Rep. Spicer and the Democratic-controlled Legislature refused to debate Governor Riley’s proposal or even allow it to come up for a vote,” he said. “So Rep. Spicer is dead wrong for suggesting that Governor Riley has not attempted to do something about this issue at the four-year colleges as well as the two-year colleges.”
The Dothan Eagle – Aug 3, 2007
I recently listened to the Alabama House in session for about two hours via the Internet. The two hours was spent on House Bill 243, sponsored by Rep. Terry Spicer from Coffee County. It finally passed and immediately the House adjourned.
It was obvious to me from the questioning by opponents of the bill that Spicer was sponsoring HB 243 for state employees, not for the people of his district or the people of Alabama.
I guess no one is ever to challenge the great Bob Riley? Rather than spending all the time and energy trying to tear down a
sold public servant like Spicer why don’t you spend your time looking into the activities of Riley’s son and his law firm…..
and that firm’s connections to Jerry Beasley and the multi-billion dollar Exxon legal case….that Beasley’s firm was awarded by Gov. Riley. You might find an interesting connection between Honest Bob, son Honest Rob, and the law firm…………why not spend time looking into
the business interest of former Riley appointee Tim Alford and his connections to the two-year college system and the workforce
development agency created by Bob Riley…..ask about a million dollar award from a company called Worldwide Interactive Network
that never happended although the Gov touted the award and later awarded a multi-million dollar contract to the company…what
are Alford’s dealings with that company and the newly appointed workforce development director Matthew Hughes…. there is
a long list of questionable activities conducted by Riley and his cronies but they want to keep the smoke screen focused on
Spicer so they can rape the state of another several hundred million before anyone notices.
None of you republican homers out there want to challenge post number six regarding Tim ALford or Rob Riley? Go back and
do your research. Gov. Riley has repeatedly touted the $ 1 million award from Worldwide Interactive Network, even though he has been
told the money was never paid and despite the fact the company was awarded multiple contracts with the state. Why don’t some
of you loyal Riley lovers ask the governor for an inquiry into the new employment of Mr. Alford. You might find it interesting to
learn Mr. Alford helped send money to colleges and vendors that he now has links to. Might want to ask about a multi-million dollar
grant Alabama and Mississippi got from the US Dept of Labor. Where might you ask has that money gone. Surely none has found
its way to Mr. Alford or the interactive company? Seems to be lots of questions about various two year colleges. Some of
the ones involved with the US Labor grant are the very same colleges being challenged on other issues. But- have you heard
anything about the Labor grant that will essentially award millions to various vendors with no bid process. You repubs really
think no body is paying attention do you? It is just a matter of time before the light shines on the Gov., “the family”, and some
senior appointees. Looking forward to it.
Honestly, you’ve got to be kidding. You dems are all great at one thing — asking a bunch of questions which are logically incapable of leading to the conclusions you want people to reach.

This Thursday will mark the last day of the legislative Session. For some, it was a Session that seemed would never end. For others, it was one that ended much too quickly. It may be early, yet, to write an obit on this Session, but as we approach the finish line, some perspective may be in order.
As you know, a very important piece of legislation will be presented for our consideration in the House tomorrow in Montgomery – Senate Bill 310 – the “Students First” tenure and fair dismissal reform bill. Like me, many House members have been inundated with phone calls and emails from opponents of this bill, and some have been [...]
There are a lot of issues to debate before we begin the final days of this session. In fact, I am quite certain there will be some comments on this post debating many of them. Before we get into the last seven day of the session I wanted to bring up a topic that [...]

Terry Spicer, D-Elba, had no problem voteing himself a 62% pay increase, or trying to stick the taxpayers with the tab for his free medical insurance!
