Pookie, Section 47 of the Alabama Constitution requires a state senator to be a resident of and reside in the district they represent. The Houghton Mifflin online dictionary gives these definitions:
(1) resident
NOUN: One who resides in a particular place permanently or for an extended period.
(2) reside
INTRANSITIVE VERB: To live in a place permanently or for an extended period.

Obviously Senator Mitchell doesn't comply with the constitutional requirement for residency even though he may claim that his legal residence (his domicile) is in Luverne in a house he doesn't live in.

Don:

There was a big stink over that issue a while back. Senator Wendell Mitchell lives in a mansion in Montgomery. He clams to have a domicile in his home district.

Domicile (law) is a term that designates the law of a person for purposes of determining certain legal questions such as the ability to invoke the jurisdiction of a Court, or the interpretation of a will. A person may have many places of residence, but may only have one domicile.

Does anyone know whether 2607 Leonidas Drive in east Montgomery is in the AL-2 district? That’s Senator Wendell Mitchell’s address. I guess he could always run out of his P.O. Box in Luverne, anyway, like he has for his seat in the state senate.

And Wendell would switch parties "IF" he ran which won't happen, he is older than TE. Wendell just stays with the Democrats for the powers that come with his seniority. He campaigns about how Conservative he is an had Republicans hosting events for him.

Actually I am a Republican, I just cannot stand Mask. He get up on his high horse, took a shot at sparks and when Sparks responded Mask did not reply and I do not want somebody like him as a Representative in DC. Got any more assumptions you would like to make about me ole Sal?

Too bad for Greg Wren that he lives in Mike Rogers district. I know that you don't actually have to live in a Congressional District to be elected to run to represent it (one of those strange facts of politics), but it sure does make it harder.

[...] Danny is reporting that Rep. Terry Everett (R-AL 2nd District) plans to retire at the end of his current term. He’s also covering the rumors and certainties of who will run to take Everett’s place. The district, which encompasses Montgomery and several counties south (see map here), leans Republican — but not as much as my very own 6th District. Stay tuned. [...]
