HD 12 Campaigning

House District 12 has a vacant seat, no announced timetable from the Governor for filling the seat, and candidates on the campaign trail.

Republican attorney Greg Johnson had a paid announcement in The Cullman Times this weekend announcing his candidacy and issues for his campaign.

I received email Saturday from a reader who was at the Cullman Electric Co-op annual meeting complete with hot air balloon rides, arts and crafts, and opportunity for campaigning. The reader saw Democratic hopeful Sheila Kretzschmar handing out brochures, GOP candidate Wayne Willingham’s “daughter or granddaughter handing out his cards,” and no sign of Republican Nancy Horton or Democrat James Fields (who was said to be on a church mission trip with his church).

Second-hand chatter is that people on both sides of the aisle are surprised that no dates have been announced for the primary and general elections.

While all of my interest in the political world is a hobby [...]

My Time is Up

I write this blog with some mixed emotion. Over the last eight years I have served in the House of Representatives, and this Thursday will most likely be my last day in session as a House member. Of course, my term goes until November, and there could always be a special session at [...]

TRYIN’ TO CATCH UP

I’ve been in Venice on a little vacation and just returned last night.  I’ve been trying to catch up and see that there have been few dramatic events in the last 10 days.  I thought the www.fivethirtyeight.com piece was especially good, though the comments reflected the anti-Alabama knee-jerk reactions of those who live outside the [...]
