How can one be a corrupt double-dipper one week and be worth of a promotion the next week?

Last week the State Board of Education was told that all of the educators in the legislature could not be effective doing their jobs at home. Now one of the double-dippers has been given the highest office at a two year college. Wonder if Board Members are having second thoughts about the real motives behind the chancellor policies and actions?

I agree with Cam. Neal has always been a model of what you want in a legislator. Even if you
disagree with him (which is frankly not nearly as often as one might think)...he always does his
job with honor and integrity. He'll be missed, but I'm excited for him in his new job. Spoke to
him this morning and he was so excited it was hard NOT to be happy for him.

Interesting. Going to take a while before the dust settles on all this, and we can evaluate the ripple effects.

Question for everyone against 'double dipping' do you possibly think, for even one second, that Neal becomes a president of a 2 year school without having also served in the legislature?

The issue is always credibility -- let's see if Riley and Byrne are applauded for basically doing what they say they don't like (injecting politics into the 2 year system) -- and given the nature of Cullman, let's see if they pick up one more seat in the House (which we all know is the real reason for this "controversy")

As a follow up to my last comment above I can also say that whenever a battle broke out in the legislature you knew where Neil stood on something. You might not have agreed with him but you knew where he stood. I wish him the best of luck because with gridlock being as bad has it has been lately in Montgomery, reasonable people who are not afraid to work with both sides like Neil are becoming smaller in number.

Well I can tell you this..... he will be missed in the legislature. Neil was a very independent legislator who you could always depend on to vote on what he felt was right regardless of party affiliation. I fought against and with Neil like most people and that was usually in the same day!!!! That is not a common trait in Montgomery these days, where someone just speaks their mind and is not afraid to make both sides mad.
