When I was gathering information for the post about the race behind the race among Republicans in Senate district 32, I picked up some interesting comments that didn’t really fit in that post.
One knowledgeable and opinionated observer in the district offered a few candid quick-takes…
David Ed Bishop has the best name ID in the race. Randy McKinney will probably pick up support from real estate and business. Trip Pittman will get some forestry support.
Bishop has been around a long time, but no one really knows what he has done. He’s kinda vanilla. Trip Pittman is the hardest worker right now. Just don’t know [how he will do]. Albert Lipscomb they say is going to get the support of the conservative group. Trouble is, no one can find that group. I think it’s kinda dissipated.
I think Randy McKinney has positioned himself with Riley and is probably in the best position.
No one has fired too many shots right now. It’s early. It could all change.
Candidate Don McGriff’s name did not come up.
Another knowledgeable source told me, “I do know that Pittman is getting the support of a lot of the Mobile GOP, led by Jerry Lathan and his wife [Terry], an AL GOP power couple.” Both sources told me that AEA may find a way to help Bishop, and the latter also said, “I bet ALFA stays out of the primary.”
My email inbox tells me that there will be a candidate forum for the District 32 Senate Race, Tuesday, July 24, from 7 to 8:30 pm in the Fairhope Civic Center Main Auditorium. The public is invited to submit questions ahead of time on issues relevant to SD 32.

Bishop is being financed by AEA so your source is preobably connected to them. Am I correct?
In any event Bishop’s support from the leading liberal union in this state – which is known in the district – spells doom in highly conservative Baldwin County.
Oops – sorry about the typo – should be “probably.”
Trip Pittman is a fresh face who is working his tail off. Expect him in the runoff
AEAohno, I make it a point never to identify, in any way big or small, sources who wish to remain anonymous
That means I won’t even confirm who was not a source. That would be a road that leads to trouble someday also.

However, I will confess that I am befuddled by your contention that the source is somehow connected to AEA. I will say with 100% certainty that a source need not be connected to AEA to say, “AEA may find a way to help Bishop.”
