Riley: ‘Absolutely Not’ Any Choctaw Money
Found an answer to my question of a week and a half ago.
A Senate Committee report contained the allegation that his 2002 campaign received $13 million from the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians to protect their gambling interests by opposing gambling in Alabama if and when he was elected.
Because Riley and his spokesmen steadfastly denied receiving that exact amount, I couldn’t help but wonder if they received some Choctaw money. A month has passed since the news of the allegation in the Senate report was first reported, and finally in yesterday’s Anniston Star, “Riley said through a spokesman Friday that he had ‘absolutely not’ accepted any Choctaw money.”
