Welcome to the AL - 02 Big List.
This list has been an attempt to keep up with everyone in either political party who has been credibly mentioned (in public or private) as a potential candidate for Alabama’s 2nd Congressional District since Rep. Terry Everett (R - Rehobeth) announced that he will not run for re-election.
Both parties’ qualifying period ended April 4, 2008. Three Democrats and six Republicans qualified for the primary race, and they are listed below. The primary is June 3.
The Political Parlor will update the Alabama Line (found in the sidebar) for the race, though perhaps not as fast as you like since input from a wide array of people is sought.

It’s easy to see how Ron Gilley’s sycophants can’t think logically. Comments like “All Ronnie Gilley and his “goons” have done is incite 218,000 people to come to Coffee County for what was the largest and most succesful music festival in Alabama history.” are insipid at best, insane at worst. “Inciting people” to come to a music festival is supposed to prove WHAT about his integrity and possible political maneuvering -? That’s sort of thinking is non-sequitur: means it makes no sense because it has nothing to do with the issues. Regardless of what Ron Gilley’s involvement in the political situation is or is not, mooing like a bunch of cattle over things Ron Gilley has done to put money in his pocket does not help the argument.

Yeah looks like we found a little sense finally about this whole issue. Im pretty sure the good book mentions not using your faith for personal gains. Therefore, running on the merits of your faith for a powerful paying job is a sin. Stop trying to push the fact that your a Christian down our throats Jay.

That doesn’t sound or appear like an endorsement such as the one Jay released stating that the U.S. House stooges for medieval fiefdom starting five can’t wait for him to get to D.C. so they can lead him around by the nose.
Ronnie Gilley’s goons? Who are you kidding there? All Ronnie Gilley and his “goons” have done is incite 218,000 people to come to Coffee County for what was the largest and most succesful music festival in Alabama history. It was one of the most professionally run and family-oriented festivals this region has ever seen. We need more “goons” like Ronnie Gilley if you ask me.

Blasphemy is what we in the church call what Jay is doing. He is trying to use his religion for his own personal gain. Mr. Love, a true Christian would not be using God and Jesus for your own personal gain. Mrs. Smith may not question your christian character, but I will.

Children,children…stop the insanity already. We all know that Jay single handidly gave “Conservative Christian Alabama Values” a black eye just for his extreme over use of the phrase. That is all he knows how to say. It is nauseating to say the least. As for HAS,well she is HAS. Not the slickest politician, but she is not a total fraud either. As for her relationship with RG, there would be no meaningful relationship if it weren’t for Jay the Fraud. Why on earth would he do a push poll asking about the character of RG? Oh, that’s right, he is using his “Conservative Christian Alabama Values”. Give it a rest.

All I have to say is that Ronnie Gilley is the best thing that happened to Bobby Bright. All this fighting about who is “really” a liar bodes well for Bright. Keep tearing at each other, HAS & JL - Bright thanks you for making his job easier come the fall.

If Gilley has hurt HAS so bad by coming out in support of her, why would Jay feel the need to do a poll about his character? He is not in this election. That is basically a push poll against a private citizen. Mr. Gilley, give ‘em hell for Harri Anne. Jay Love is done.

#1481 Yes, people know the gambling issue. They know Smith and Gilley’s relationship. Gilley is hurting her everytime he or one of his goons speak in my opinion. Someone said earlier that he needs to go to work. He really needs to instead of pampering his own self inflated ego.

The real issue is not this Gilley character. The issue is that Smith flip flopped on the gambling issue. She was opposed to gambling and then she was for gambling and why? Because she got campaign cash from the gambling folks. Smith is the issue, not Gilley and Smith has a long history of being pro-gaming.
