Welcome to the AL - 02 Big List.

Alabama with the 2nd Congressional District highlightedThis list has been an attempt to keep up with everyone in either political party who has been credibly mentioned (in public or private) as a potential candidate for Alabama’s 2nd Congressional District since Rep. Terry Everett (R - Rehobeth) announced that he will not run for re-election.

Both parties’ qualifying period ended April 4, 2008. Three Democrats and six Republicans qualified for the primary race, and they are listed below. The primary is June 3.

The Political Parlor will update the Alabama Line (found in the sidebar) for the race, though perhaps not as fast as you like since input from a wide array of people is sought.

If they are bashing woods it is not obvious who is behind it. reason would make you think it is smith or love…but to say it is not smith or it is not love…..we don’t know that folks. they both feel the heat from woods these days.

It isn’t Smith’s poll. Next time someone gets a call from them, listen to who the pollster is…from there, we can figure out who is behind it. But, if they are bashing Woods, I think it is pretty obvious who’s behind it.

My neighbor got a call. Said there was something in there about Woods being a conservative christian but having some of the worst TV shows on the air as far as sex, language and violence.

I hadn’t really thought about that before because I like some of those shows like Family Guy and American Dad on Sundays, but I sure don’t want my children watching.

I guess they’re going after the hypocrite angle.

Has anyone else been called with the Smith poll that talks about the bad stuff that David Woods airs on his tv station? Someone else I know in the district got called and it was all favorable to Smith and push poll questions on Woods. I do not know what shows air on what stations but it sounded like they were getting ready to go after him on something.

little ole me - I got the call mid-morning on a weekday, so that limits the type of people being polled to retired, sick, shut-ins, housekeepers, children, etc. It was a push button poll. Thanks for the info.

Yes, I have heard that the polls were tallied up, but to be honest I am not very sure that I trust the numbers. From what I understand it was a push button poll, and I know that my daughter has picked up the phone at times and begun pushing away when someone called. Then again, that might explain some of the numbers from the first push button poll done earlier this year.

But, to answer your questions, from what I have heard, and let me state this is merely hearsay, the usual suspects were not at the top of the list. Let’s just say that according to the numbers, the scenery has changed for the 2 former lead dogs, if you know what I mean.

Boy, I sure wish I could remember who it was that told me that my worries about mudslinging had, and I quote “no true base and were totally false”…..HMM?

Looks like the soaker hose has been left on, and now all that’s needed is the first handfull thrown, and we’re off. I am certain that within the next 2 weeks, attack campaigns will come out against almost every candidate. There may be one candidate who is left unscathed, but that candidate really doesn’t hold many votes anyway.

I just wonder if the candidates doing the trashing, will realize that they are hindering themselves and allowing others to rise to the top. I guess we shall see…..

By the way, will be interesting to see who shows up tonight in Montgomery. I have a feeling old “No Show Smith” will probably make it seeing as how there will be a spotlight. She sure didn’t do herself any favors missing some events last week. And, for what it’s worth, I don’t think it matters, unless she’s planning on reloading and shooting herself in the other foot. Anybody got a wheel chair for her?

    Seriously,
Sorry if you find my arguments boring…however, in case you haven’t noticed, I’m not the only one questioning your veracity and tactics.

Love must really be afraid of Smith to be pulling this kind of transparent (and let’s not forget redundant) shennanigans. What’s the matter? Is your boss afraid that being beaten by a small town country girl will be the death knell of his career? Bless his heart, his ego must really be fragile if he is willing to sell his soul to the devil, just to avoid the humiliation.

Just remember one thing, if Smith doesn’t win the primary outright, then Love will be facing her in a runoff. And when the truth comes out about the falsified documents, not only will it be the end of his career, it could very well be the end of a lot of things for him when the legal system gets through with him.

Personally, I sincerely doubt if you even have these spurious documents. I think this is just another one of Love’s desperate attempts to start a nasty rumor…a drive by mud bomb, as it were. Just remember, folks who have attempted to use these kinds of tactics against Smith in the past, have found that the mud doesn’t stick to Smith….but tends to leave the one attempting to sling it covered with their own filth. What a pretty picture!

A little off subject, but has anyone seen the results of a phone poll last week which asked respondents if they were going to vote in the Rep primary, who they were going to vote for, and which current domestic issue was most important to them? I got polled, but haven’t heard or read anything about the results.

Seriously, I am not worried about Jay Love except in the sense I am worried because of his long, proven history of dishonesty. If there are late-hour “dirty tricks” from him, it would not surprise me in the least - he has done that before and probabaly will again. It’s his MO.. I do not think he will ever be elected to congress however - Bobby Bright has better operatives and by November any dirty tricks he pulls in June will be public knowledge and used against him by Bright. I just am very apprehensive that he could damage candidates who CAN win.

And I wish I could see your face when you get hit with a major liable lawsuit. Even though Smith is a public figure, publishing doctored photos of her is still a crime and grounds for a major lawsuit. I’ll be sitting on the front row of a the spectator’s area in the courtroom when her lawyer wipes the floor up with you! Just think, you will be funding her next election!

Anytime something negative against Smith is mentioned on this board, all folks jump to the assumption that is must be a Love supporter. That is not fair and probably false.

Seems like there are alot of people on here who assume I am a Jay Love supporter. I am not. I am also not a supporter of HAS because she has not proven effective at anything she has done in government circles. All you pundits and consultants seem to be trying to spin something that you are unsure about and thus you are focusing on discrediting to try and soften whatever blow lies beneath it. Seems alot of people on here are awful worried about Jay Love. Time will solve everything for all you worried. By the way, I am not sure Bobby Bright can beat Jay Love but I am totally convinced he will wax the floor with HAS, for what it is worth. There too time will tell. Sleep tight MH. I just wish I could see your face when HAS is outed for the hypocrite she is.

I’m curious to know the personal vendetta you have “Seriously” against Sen. Smith. You guys must have some serious burned bridges if you hate her so much to release false incriminating photos against her.
Or, mabye you just work for Jay Love.

I doubt seriously if you have had the documents authenticated, since this is the first time that you have bothered to say they have been authenticated, depsite my numerous posts quesiioning their authenticity.

I suspect that you are simply slinging mud bombs in hopes of starting a rumor that cannot/will not be authenticated. Such dirty tactics is reminischent of former gubernatorial races that have served to give Alabama politics a bad name. Shame on you!

Seriously, I have no idea about your photo claims. IF there are actual photos showing improper alliances, i am all for seeing them. But I do find this interesting: one candidate in this race - Jay Love - has a proven histotry of making untrue claims about rivals JUST BEFORE ELECTIONS (he made a blatantly untrue claim in an ad about Bob McKee in 2002 on the night before the election - by the time it could be exposed as a lie, the voting was over and Jay had won by only 100 votes).

I would be highly skeptical of any thing along these lines from Jay. I would be more interested if it came from a more credible candidate such as Woods or Grimes.

MH, your retort is the equivalent of a child who has misbehaved telling the parent when and what punishment they deserve. The parent, teacher, caretaker, and so on determines the appropriate response to negative actions. I assure you there will be enough time for HAS to have one or more of her repub specialists to authenticate photos and other documents. However, would or do we expect any of HAS folks to say they are legit. Thus, there will be time for others to authenticate them. I already have them authenticated and the authenticating authority is a well-respected professional that all will know and respect. So, quit your whining and your constant references to doctored photos. I guess since I have never met you that you would find it acceptable if I said repeatedly that your face was doctored and that you had plastic surgery five years ago. Same rationale which makes no sense.

Not at all, I just find your specious allegations as rude and outrageous as the others that Danny has removed from the board. I also think it is playing ‘dirty pool’ to release doctored photos just before the election, when there will not be time to have them authenticated. If they are, in fact, genuine, then you should have no problem having them authenticated prior to the release. The fact that you refuse to do so makes the questioned documents even more suspicious.

MH, as the one in possession of these items it is completely up to me to release them when I am good and ready to. I have made my allegations and will release these items on my timeline not your’s. Sorry that does not meet your demands. As for being authenticated I am sure tons of people will review the items and make their own decision on their authenticity. You will be more than welcome to have whatever professionals you know to review them as well. What you might want to be doing with your time is help HAS examine her ties to ole Jack and the indians. There appears to be even more activities that occurred during the lottery vote time period than anyone ever realized. Money has a funny way of showing up. By the way, I appreciate your efforts to censor me. Worried about whats coming are you?
