Welcome to the AL - 02 Big List.
This list has been an attempt to keep up with everyone in either political party who has been credibly mentioned (in public or private) as a potential candidate for Alabama’s 2nd Congressional District since Rep. Terry Everett (R - Rehobeth) announced that he will not run for re-election.
Both parties’ qualifying period ended April 4, 2008. Three Democrats and six Republicans qualified for the primary race, and they are listed below. The primary is June 3.
The Political Parlor will update the Alabama Line (found in the sidebar) for the race, though perhaps not as fast as you like since input from a wide array of people is sought.

Novak needs to retire, he is definitely a has been folks.
Comment by anonymous — August 22, 2008 @ 10:26 pm
No one - not one person - that supports Bright has anything to say about Novak’s well researched and totally factual article based on Roll Call votes in the US House. Hmmmm…..what a shock.
Truth hurts folks…

Quote by Robert Novak after studying Blue Dogs and their votes on key issues in Congress.
“What is clear is that Blue Dogs are neither conservatives nor independents. They only campaign that way. They are hoping that in November they can ride through the current political ethos for at least another two years.”
This is an excellent article from May 2008.

One thing you may wish to know for certain is that Bright hasn’t had to sell a sandwich shop to finance his campaign. Come to mention it, he hasn’t even had to kick in any of his own funds for his campaign. The DNCC and people in general are so ready for positive changes in Congress that they are willing to donate their funds to ensure that Mr. Bright gets that Congressional seat. Now, I do declare….

monetary? bright is not raising money from folks - it is all being given from the DNC. wake up man. and you think bright is not all about party? wait until the dnc starts running all their ads. you will see what he is all about. the guy is a fraud.

Re: 1992
You and your buddy Jay Love can just keep going on with your attempts to bash Bright about his party. Although the truth of the matter is you both are simply jealous of all the monetary support that Bright is receiving, bottom line and the great campaign that he is running. He has not wavered from his stand on the issues, which Jay can’t even talk about because he don’t know any to talk about. He is such a big whiner, and everyone knows that to.

Bright is a con artist. He wants to play this “i’m not partisan…i’m so conservative…they can give me all this money (trial lawyers, liberal members of congress and howard dean’s dnc) yet I can do whatever I want because they are buying into my ideas” yeah - and I have some ocean front property in arizona to sale you Bobby. and this whole “i pledge to run a positive campaign” yet when quizzed about the dnc’s plan to spend 600,000 to attack Jay Love, Bright just smiles and says he has nothing to do with that. Now we see in the New York Post what the whole scam is…they think the voters in CD 02 are too dumb to realize who the folks behind the scenes financially and otherwise are. Everyone should read that article but most importantly review the FEC reports and see where Bright is getting his money. Then compare that to where Love is getting his for this Congressional race.

Bright was a very smart choice for Congressman of District 02. He is running the kind of positive campaign that people like to see. He is also well known and respected throughout the Wiregrass. He is destined to become the next elected Official to represent the 2nd District in November. As his support base is spreading, people like what he stands for. “02 looks BRIGHT already for November”

It might have been just for looks to start with, but thanks to Love making such a big deal over it I am now seeing them in peoples yards that I know are historically Republican voters. Another Good move by the Love Campaign

I saw this posted on another blog and thought I would share it because I think many of us feel this way:
Title: Very Sad
“It is really sad when a politician will ignore the issues that face District 2 to only advance his own well being. This is not partisan politics or someone fighting liberal America, it is just someone being absolute selfish. I am tired of politicians just trying to make them self look like the better of two evils. Jay Love let’s hear about District 2 and not your opponent.”
Comment by Anonymous — August 13, 2008 @ 11:27 am
Jay Loves special interests, wahh wahh wahh. hmmph, I don’t like him, he’s a big old meanie.
gag me with a spoon, please. It’s just like the people who complain about John McCain. He’s really not that bad- just two little old bills, Feingold and Lieberman, but other than that, everything’s fine and dandy in my book. But no, these traditionalists scream “McCain’s not a conservative, he has a couple bad votes. I can’t vote for him”. Please. Look, in politics more often than not one has to choose between the lesser of two evils, but most of the time in cases like Love and McCain people are complaining about minute details that in reality don’t overshadow their conservative leanings. Hell, I don’t support everything Bush has done- IE No child left behind, not vetoing the healthcare/ housing entitlement bills, deficit increases, etc. But I did support his tax cuts and the war on Islamofascism, thus I’m not a Bush hater. I know it’s cool to hate republicans and look for change. but change for change’s sake? really? this is why I’m actually glad we have a representative government and not an Athenian democracy. stupid people like these myrmidon Obama supporters are more prevalent, swayed by demagoguery and charismatic media images, rather than logic and factual understandings of policy.

all the bright signs are in the yards of dems…don’t be fooled. It’s all a scam.
Comment by Anonymous — August 13, 2008 @ 11:02 am
so whats the deal with the dems asking for their money back from bright??
Comment by CC Dollar — August 13, 2008 @ 9:31 am
Apparently people here are getting confused about this whole Bright Republicans thing. Bright is not purporting to be anything other than an old school Southern Democrat - Independent thinker who calls em like he sees em.
The signs are in the yards of SUPPORTERS who happen to BE Republicans .
Not that complicated really.

Major crisis for whom? The economy is not in terrible shape, every major war has run a deficit. The real problem is individuals who bit off more than they can chew. Don’t blame this on an administration that has handled the current situation better than most. Get real, the 2nd district won;t be fooled by Bright’s liberal agenda and antics to seem in support of the current administration. If he attacks the Bush admin, he looses his so called “Bright Republicans”.
